What Is Flaxseed Oil?

Flax oil or flaxseed oil is also known as linseed oil. It is usually a colorless oil but sometimes it can be a yellowish color. The oils are obtained from the dried and ripened seeds of the flax plant. There are several benefits to a whole-food and plant based diet. Flaxseed is known to be a very nutritious seed and has been a part of many people's health routine for some time.

There are two types of flaxseed, brown and gold, and it is possible to extract oil from both. Flaxseed oil is easy to incorporate into our daily diet. It is even richer in some nutrients than flax seeds themselves, such as omega 3 fatty acids which is an essential substance for our health.

There are two important processes through which flaxseed oil is obtained. The first one is called “Pressing” and the second process is known as “Extraction.” Flaxseed oil is also called “drying oil,” which means that it can polymerize into a solid form.

Golden Flaxseed Vs Brown Flaxseed...

In nutritional terms, the values are very similar, since brown flaxseed is made up of 22% protein, while golden linseed has 29%. The amount of oil is even more similarities between the two, with 44% for brown and 43% for golden.

Another most striking difference is in taste. Because of its thinner hull, golden flaxseed tends to have a milder flavor, while brown flaxseed has a stronger nuttier taste.

What is Flaxseed Oil Used For?

Flaxseed oil produces two omega 3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA. However, it is particularly rich in alpha-linolenic acid, one of the omega 3 fatty acids.       The article is great and beneficial, I could certainly use some Flax seed oil in my life. I have a full time job and I’m sitting behind a computer for long hours, there are no time left for exercises. Heart diseases are looking for me.

        If you feel like you do not have time for exercise, can I suggest that you consider changing your mode of transport to and from work?
        Perhaps you currently drive when you could be walking, cycling or taking a bus or train.
        This will ensure you are getting some more exercise every day.
        Adding flax to your diet will certainly help too.

    3. I have avoided flaxseed for years due to an ‘overdose’ of it during a treatment based soleley on flaxseed. Such a pity, because it sure is healthy.
