Welcome to my Natural Care post!
First of all, I must congratulate you for taking the time to do your research on this topic of green living. It is no surprise to tell you that people in the U.S spend billions of dollars every year to get their hands dirty on personal care products. But can we trust all of the products we find in our stores?
As a qualified teacher, I am passionate about education and the impact it can have on bettering our future. It is down to us individuals to do our research and make small changes to the way we live our lives.
These small changes are easy to make and can have a big impact on our health, the health of our family, and our environment. This website is designed for everyday people looking to make these changes. Here you will learn a legitimate way to go green.
Let me be completely transparent with you, I am not here to pitch or sell anything to you. I am here to reveal and to assist you on your journey of going green!
Personal Care Products...
These products are designed to improve their hair structure, enhance their skin, and personal hygiene. Many people in the U.S are not aware that personal care products manufactured commercially contain harmful ingredients and chemicals that can health problems. Many personal care products for skin and hair are not tested in the third-party laboratory.
On average, an American adult uses ten personal care products in his or her day-to-day life. Most people do not cross-check the ingredients – they watch the famous TV commercial, ads between YouTube Videos, Facebook sponsored posts, etc.
I feel sad for people trusting all the colorful ads where the performers present everything in a polished and perfected way. These ads are so effective, consumers trust the products they are promoting - sunscreen, shampoo, lipstick, cream, deodorant, moisturizer, etc.
My mission is to help them choose the right product that does not affect their health and the environment. For the last couple of years, i.e. from 2014 to 2018, over 27,000 people in the U.S complained to the FDA on the inadequacy of a large number of commercial personal care products.
Consumer reports show that most people complained about skincare and haircare products. Their complaints highlighted substantial problems such as skin burn, allergic reactions, hair loss, and something serious like skin cancer.
The Dangers of Inorganic Products...
I have explored a few research studies on personal care products. I wanted to check whether or not commercial care products are good for people. Although I have already doubts about them, I needed to validate them.
I found that on average, women in the U.S use twelve products daily. You will be surprised to know that there are 168 chemical ingredients on average used by women in America. At the same time, men use around six products for skin and hair care, which have 86 chemical ingredients.
Likewise, in the U.S, over 12.2 million people use commercially developed personal care products, which means all of them are exposed to chemical ingredients that are used in such products. The skincare industry was worth 93.5 billion dollars last year.
Let me talk about some of the most common harmful ingredients that can affect your health and the environment. Continue reading!
The majority of commercial skincare, hair, or dental care products that contain parabens in some form and this is alarming.
Parabens cause allergic reactions and negatively affect your endocrine system. The most worrying fact about parabens is that they collect in breast tissues and stimulate the development of cancer cells.
As a woman, I want to urge all other women who are reading this post to avoid using all personal care products that contain parabens. I won’t use them because of the potential risk to my health and the environment.
At the same time, I want to remind my male viewers who are reading this blog post that parabens also impact the male reproductive system. They can make you sterile.
A large number of skincare and beauty products such as shampoos, soaps, whitening creams, sunscreens, and moisturizers contain phthalates.
Phthalates are a group of harmful chemicals that impact your endocrine system. They are particularly dangerous for male individuals. When a man ingests phthalates or if they enter the bloodstream, it can cause male infertility.
Decreased Libido, low sexual drive, and poor sperm count can affect your marital relationships or sexual life. Phthalates damage your testes.
Formaldehyde is present in nail care, shampoo, deodorants, cleaning products, cosmetics, and hairspray products. It is one of the primary preservatives in commercially developed personal care products.
Formaldehyde causes skin irritation, allergies, burning in the eyes, nose, and throat. Since this is a toxin, it can increase the risk of skin cancer. The presence of formaldehyde in your bloodstream can affect your cardiovascular system.
Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS)...
SLS along with other sulfates are most primarily used in soaps and shampoos. SLS is a lathering agent, which makes soaps and shampoos frothy and sudsy. Today, we find a wide range of hand wash, soaps, shampoos, etc. that contain SLS.
Like Formaldehyde, SLS can cause skin irritation and skin burn. Research shows that it is a carcinogen – a cancer-causing substance. It can damage your liver, lungs, heart, and brain. It also affects your cognitive activity in the brain.
We often find this chemical in soaps, cleansers, shampoos, and other cosmetic products. This is a harmful ingredient, which causes rashes and allergies.
So much so, it can also cause contact dermatitis. Propylene Glycol damages your liver and kidneys. It also leads to neurotoxicity in small children.
Aluminum & Fluoride...
Do you use antiperspirants? Antiperspirants contain aluminum, which is harmful to your health. Not only can this chemical affect your brain negatively, but the sweat-preventing ingredient can also lead to Alzheimer’s disease.
Fluoride, on the other hand, is a popular ingredient found in mouthwash, toothpaste, and other whitening agents. It can enter your body and affect your thyroid function. It is a carcinogen and can cause bone cancer.
Talc is most commonly used in baby care products, feminine blush, and powders. Companies also use it as a lubricant in contraceptive condoms. Talc is harmful and various research studies show its connection with cancer, especially when it is inhaled or when you applied it on your genitals as a topical powder. It can likewise cause ovarian cancer in women.
Benefits of Natural Care Products...
Organic, plant-based, or natural ingredients are effective. Compared to synthetic ingredients, natural ingredients are more likely to inhibit the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungus, etc. while promoting our personal and environmental health.
Organic or home-made personal care products are essential if you want to avoid synthetic or chemical ingredients. For women, especially pregnant women, it is important to avoid them because they are more likely to cause illness and can affect your baby's health.
If you want to improve your overall health and wellbeing, make sure you don’t use commercially manufactured skincare or haircare products. Instead, experts recommend the use of home-based shampoos, soaps, moisturizers, and creams.
There is a large body of research studies that support the safety of organic ingredients. As I said above, chemical compounds such as parabens and other preservatives can harm your health, you can use natural products to save yourself from the cult of mainstream chemical ingredients.
For instance, instead of buying an expensive body wash, you can use essential oils, raw honey, and eggs to make a home-made body wash. Not only does it keep your body clean, but it also protects your body from harmful ingredients.
Making your homemade deodorants, shampoos and other personal care products is one solution. You can choose the ingredients for certain smells or advantages and make them to suit your personal needs. Luckily, you can find a wide range of natural fragrances and use them when making these personalized products.
Even if you find a personal care product on the market with a label that says “100% natural ingredients,” I want to let you know that the manufacturers are likely misleading you. It still contains preservatives and artificial fragrances.
When it comes to the environment, chemical ingredients are harmful. For instance, companies test their products on animals in the laboratory – thus they are destroying the balance of the ecosystem.
Most of the synthetic ingredients used for testing purposes in laboratories kill animals. Animals and plants are important for the overall balance of the ecosystems and biosphere.
Moreover, the packaging material can damage our environment. Most of the time, companies use plastic material for packaging, which ends up in our oceans, seas, rivers, and lakes.
As a result, plastic can negatively affect aquatic and marine life. Likewise, our land sites are filled with plastic and other similar materials. Most of the time, we burn plastic, which adds to the level of CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere, contributing to climate change.
The low-quality air is damaging our lungs, it causes the deaths of thousands of other species including birds. The sad thing is that for our benefit, we are destroying other species in the ecosystem.
Natural or organic ingredients do not harm our health. They don’t affect our environment. The question is: are we ready to adopt eco-friendly practices? I am doing my best to aware people of the benefits of natural ingredients and I hope you will support me through this website to spread the word.
Anyway, I am going to talk about some of the most important natural ingredients that we can use at home for making personal care products.
When it comes to skincare, there is nothing better than essential oils – for instance, almond oil. This is an ideal carrier oil, which is great for skin care. It has higher levels of glucosides, fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. You can use almond oil for aromatherapy, massage, etc.
You can also use this oil in home-made soaps, face oils, and body scrubs. I will teach you how to make these personal care products in detail.
Aloe Vera Gel...
Aloe Vera is my favorite natural ingredient. It is an easy-to-use personal care product, especially for your hair and skin. Apply it directly on your skin to make it soft, smooth, and pimple-free.
Beeswax is a super versatile natural ingredient. You can use it in homemade soaps, candles, hair waxes, and beard balms. It has excellent skin rejuvenation properties. I will talk about it beeswax and how you can use it to make your homemade personal care products soon.
Castor oil is a rich source of essential fatty acids such as omega-5. It is a great skin moisturizer and also works great for people who are looking to regrow their hair. You can use it as a massage oil. Castor oil is an excellent ingredient when it comes to making homemade moisturizer.
So much so, there are hundreds of natural ingredients that we can use to make our care products at home. I will talk about all of them in detail in future articles. Some other natural ingredients are:

Natural Care: The Final Verdict!
There are hundreds of chemicals and harmful ingredients used in personal care products. I can talk about them for hours. Do you want to stay healthy? Do you want a clean, green, and healthy environment?
If yes, then stop using commercial skincare, dental, and haircare products. Why would you spend thousands of dollars monthly on dangerous products? It just doesn't make sense.
If you take care of nature, it will take care of you. This is a simple philosophy. “Don’t except a healthy heart, liver, and lungs if you smoke or consume alcohol.”
Similarly, if you use commercial skincare products for your skin, body, and hair, then don’t expect them to be healthy.
