What is Coffee?
Coffee is a caffeinated beverage made from roasted coffee beans. When the berries of the plat are ripe, they are picked and dried. Produce are often called organic if it’s certified to possess grown on soil that had no prohibited substances applied for 3 years before harvest. Prohibited substances include most synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.

When coffee is grown organically, personal health risks drastically reduce. OK, so now I am smiling! This is because artificial additives have been eliminated. Here are some more benefits:
- High in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals;
- Free of pesticides and artificial fertilizers.
- Boosting the immune system
- Guarding against disease
- Reducing the risk of harmful chemical ingestion
- Provide a natural energy boost
Coffee has an enhanced taste when grown organically too. This is because it absorbs chemical-free nutrients from the soil.
When I read about these benefits I want to drink more coffee every day. It makes me think - should there be limits to the amount of coffee we drink with regards to our health?
Potential Dangers of Coffee...
The answer is yes! But remember, these most of these concerns are linked back to inorganic coffee.
For instance, can increase in vital signs, incite or worsen anxiety, insomnia, tremor, and potentially elevate glaucoma risk. The acidity of coffee is related to digestive discomfort, indigestion, heartburn, GERD, and dysbiosis (imbalances in gut flora).
Caffeine may be a known inhibitor of CPY450 enzymes within the liver, and it makes it harder for your liver to detoxify substances. for instance, it hinders the liver’s ability to detoxify hormones, medications, and environmental toxins that we are exposed to on a day today.

People have lived off the land using these methods for thousands of years. It is since the industrial revolution and the development of chemicals that has lead us down this road of chemical use in agriculture.
Where Does My Money Go?
Organic farmers and often linked with Fairtrade practices. This is important as it can support people producing coffee in developing countries by helping them maintain a sustainable living. That sure does make me smile!
Fairtrade is an appointment designed to assist producers in developing countries to achieve good trading. Members of the fair trade movement add the payment of upper prices to exporters, also as improved social and environmental standards.
The movement focuses especially on commodities, or products that are typically exported from developing countries to developed countries but also utilized in domestic markets.
The movement seeks to market greater equity in international trading partnerships through dialogue, transparency, and respect. By offering better trading conditions, it promotes sustainable development and secures the rights of marginalized producers and workers in developing countries.
Fairtrade is grounded in three core beliefs; first, producers have the facility to precise unity with consumers. Secondly, the planet trade practices that currently exist promote the unequal distribution of wealth between nations.
Lastly, buying products from producers in developing countries at a good price may be a more efficient way of promoting sustainable development than traditional charity and aid.

Each company is different and will have its own culture, policies and procedures. You can do your research online by reading reviews of different companies.
What is Organic Coffee: The Final Verdict!
Shopping organic has benefits for our personal health and the health of our environment. The USDA certification can be trusted.
Drinking coffee can have advantages and disadvantages. If you choose to drink coffee, be aware of the side affects and drink in moderation.
Choosing to drink organic coffee will benefit farmers, the sustainability of the industry, our environment and it tastes better.
